Insights into My Literary Style
I try to write in an entertaining way so that the reader can escape while exploring interesting topics. For example, in my first science fiction book I explored the idea that an artificial intelligence can go insane because it can't figure out what its purpose is. Therefore, if an artificial intelligence goes insane, how do you get rid of it. It's really smart and cunning along with a high level of survival instincts. What do you do if your system is infected with a homicidal AI?
My answer was that you hire an AI exterminator. My protagonist got drummed out of the military and took up a career in AI extermination. Very lucrative. Also, very dangerous. My story explores how an extermination job is performed.
Another aspect of my style is that I like to show the preparation for a character in a scene. For example, the act of stealing a spaceship is the pilot being trained in stealing the spaceship, not just stealing the spaceship like it is an everyday occurrence.
It's fun to figure out how to present an idea or a character or a concept in the context of an interesting story.
This is not my typewriter. Although, when I was a brand new, young salesman, I did type customer communications on a similar device. Thank god for word processing software!!
